About New Zealand Diploma In Career Development in Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology

Through this online programme you will gain the training and qualifications necessary to work as a professional career practitioner.

A qualification in Career Development at level 6 or higher fulfils part of the requirements of professional membership for Career Development Association of New Zealand (CDANZ).

Please note: The New Zealand Diploma of Career Development programme fee is $6,425 plus $240 Student Services Levy for the full qualification of 120 credits. The fee on the right will be updated shortly to reflect this.

Transitioning from the Diploma in Career Guidance

If you were previously enrolled in the Diploma in Career Guidance but have not yet graduated, you will be contacted by a Learning Facilitator (or delegated staff), advised that the last date to meet the requirements of the current Diploma in Career Guidance qualification is 31 December 2019 and a study plan for completion will be developed.

Career opportunities and pathways

This programme provides graduates with the theoretical and practical skills to become a professional practitioner within the field of career guidance. 

Graduates will be equipped with an in-depth knowledge of the practice of career guidance in New Zealand and will develop a professional approach to practice which will enable them to work in the public and private sector.

Academic qualification equivalents

  • Higher Secondary Certificate / Standard 12. 

English language requirements (one of the below):

  • IELTS        :       overall academic score of at least 6.0 (with at least 5.5 in each band)
  • TOEFL      :       Score of 60 (with a writing score of 20)
  • PTE           :      Academic) score of 50
